Semtex found in Cranford Way

I moved to London in 1996, and about two weeks before I moved here the police raided a house 2/3 houses up from me in Tooting and found a big IRA bomb making factory! 

I found this out after I moved in... A little different to what I was used to in Barnsley, that was for sure.

I used to live in Gisburn Road and went past the entrance to Cranford Way on my nightly trips to the flesh pots of Crouch End.

Often one would see 60 foot lorries sweep out of the estate starting their nightly journeys. One of the large hauliers (I think it was a garment forwarding operation) proudly proclaimed its service in giant letters on the side of its trailers - " TNT - OVERNIGHT TO IRELAND" 

After the news broke, this always raised a chuckle.
