Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

A warning.... Sainsburys have a special offer (have had for a while now) on the packs of 10 mild Edam slices. I bought two packs some weeks back. the first was ok, I ate it all (bland but sometimes in sandwich with other stuff, edible) But the second unopened pack started to have condensation on the inside. I took it back to Sainsburys (still unopened and a month before use by date). I was told, tough. You bought it and took it out of the store so nothing to do with us. Not our fault... And I didnt have the receipt any longer but even with one, I had removed it from the store.

Now, its only a pack of cheese slices I know and didnt cost much but I have to throw them all away. I hate throwing food away.

I opened the pack afterwards and the cheese was soggy.... But not Sainsburys fault. No point in two for one or whatever if one of them is useless. It's the principle of it.

They can put their cheese slices somewhere unutterable!

Do what Nigel advised another member and call Sainsbury's Careline. I've called them myself since reading Nigel's post and they're eager to please.
I bought 2 for £3 coffee yesterday but when I got home the discount was not on my bill, I'll have to take it back. Normally I check before leaving the store but whilst shopping there yesterday I cut my thumb and was annoyed that I had to wait 20 mins to see the manager about the poor and slow progress of cleaning up the glass; I was not satisfied with the conversation and have emailed Sainsburys.
No need to traipse back there Gerry. See Jeremy's post. He sorted it through Careline.
the careline is a good thing I'm sure but a pity they have shifted their care to a line and not in-store. another sign of the times. we have to chase every thing up to get some sort of customer care. No staff training on that score methinks going on in the store itself. I am shopping there less and less. I shall vote with my feet and my £
That's annoying because I've always found Harringay Sainsbury's quite good at sorting out that sort of thing. I've had to take back clothes that were the wrong size as they had the wrong hangers on with no problem. I was also charged twice for the same DVD which they refunded without question, although I could have been lying ... there was no way to prove I didn't buy two.

However, I do wish they would put clearly visible signs about thieves operating in the store and warn people not to put their handbags on trolleys. I've noticed that Crouch End shops are now displaying signs about this and I think it helps to remind people to be vigilant rather than putting them off shopping.
Sadly I didnt have the same experience. I left a pack of loo roll at the tills...now...I spent £140 on shopping and the loo rolls were about £4. I thought as a gesture of good faith they would give me the benefit of the doubt but nope..... I must have an untrustworthy face....!!
How mean of them. Goodwill?
humph.
These supermarkets are making billions out of us! we should vote with our feet and shop elsewhere where and when possible.
I agree Ruth. One would hope that Sainsbury's would not try to trick and fleece us with their poor labelling and practices, but if these things happen, or are allowed to happen, it is because of corporate policy.

The only thing big business understands in the long run is that their reputation suffers and they lose business to more customer-friendly competitors. In the short run, the only real power consumers have is to vote with their feet and wallets!
Are the slices round or square?

Round slices would be brilliant if you were eating a roll or a large floury bap, but a nightmare if you only had bread to make your sandwiches with. But then the problem with square slices is you can only use them in sandwiches and not in rolls.

Do you think they'll ever invent slices of cheese that can go in french baguettes? Maybe a niche out there for any budding Harringay inventors...

Do they have different strengths of Edam slices? Mild? Extra Mild? Bland?
All those cheese slices are medium to very bland.
If you want round slices, get one of those pastry cutter things you make mince pies etc with and just cut out as you please and there you go, cheese for your baps. You can stick the left over bits in your baguettes. no, it doesnt hurt
