They said they would not do this (among other things) and people voted for them accordingly.

PS And to all you "voters" who voted Lib Dem (nationally) they had plenty of prior coalition form in the LA.

John, I am a voter, not a "voter". Just because I (may have) voted Lib Dem locally and nationally doesn't mean you should enclose me in perverted commas. OK no party won but the ballsup over forming a tolerable coalition was down to dead-in-the-water Brown and his leaderless lot as much as to Clegg's tory-leaning clique. Let's see whether more enlightened electorates with more rational voting systems (e.g. Ireland in 3/4 weeks from now, or New Zealand) can manage to invent more desirable coalitions.

As for the halving of SNT sergeants, it just may be that either Sergeant Jono or Sergeant Tim (to take our local exemplars) could rise to the challenge of supervising a team across both Harringay and St Anns.

I am so gutted about the gutting of neighbourhood policing by the "coalition", which I regard as, like so much else they have done now, vandalism, that I am going to scream about how we as a nation voted. We were suckers and we have been taken for suckers. Did anyone think that two boys who spent their University days trashing expensive restaurants in morning suits would do what they said they would? Silly me, yes, some of you did.

Vote Green.

You're right of course, John. Call it naiveté but the Bullingdon Boys didn't feature in my ballot booth dream. Poor Convince Cable!
This is indeed bad news. We seem to have good local teams here. I hope their work is recognised and the need for them appreciated.
