Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

There's an app you can get for your smart phone called Strava , and it's used to track exercise. Well they've uploaded a (while back now) the tracking data they have collected. You can browse the data online, and you can map all sorts of things from the data such as the location of "secret" military bases

Here is an animation of the running and cycling in Harringay tracked by the app.

The shading is a heatmap, and the brighter the yellow, the more people use that route.

The yellow in one picture doesn't show the same number people yellow in the other picture does. But it gives you a good idea of the relative use.

It's easy to spot where the bikes and the runners don't go. (So look at the runners in the passage and Chestnuts Park)

Interesting to team this up with the atmospheric pollution data and figure out where the better places to exercise are.

You know that the proposed quiet route from Enfield to Clerkenwell will divert away from the ladder, go through Crouch End and over the hill? I don't think that's what cyclists want...

Utility cyclists don’t use Strava!

I don't use strava! and if I did I wouldn't allow the data to be public! But it does show something... :-)

thats great, can you put finsbury park up any chance, I bet that is even brighter, as much nicer park to run in than tiny chestnuts

ah actually i can see it at the bottom, and the run along the track in bold white- brilliant_ i use strava and have no problem people using my data
