Just got this from the network manager:-
Wightman Road N8 is currently closed between Fairfax Road and Beresford Road after damage caused to a building by a fire on Saturday afternoon/evening.
Due to the risk of partial collapse the road and pavement adjacent to the building is fenced off and the Councils contractors will begin work at 08:00 on Monday 15 October to remove part of the damaged front wall. It is anticipated that the works will be completed by Monday evening and at this time the road will be re-opened.
Local diversions and road closure signs are in place but significant disruption to traffic is expected on both Wightman Road and Green Lanes.

The traffic is coming down Pemberton and then backing up onto Wightman again.
Thanks very much for explaining this - Frobisher Rd has also been still/queueing traffic all day.
As I wrote in reply to another post, they should open up the Gardens temporarily to through traffic, to relieve the pressure on Green Lanes.
Perhaps if there were actually signs at either end of Wightman Road indicating the road was closed half way down, and offering diversions around green lanes or Crouch End, there would have been less chaos on Wightman and the ladder rungs...
Also, if there were signs at the Green Lanes end of the up rungs, that too would have stopped a lot of the regular traffic trying to divert off Green Lanes up to Wightman, only to find they were stuck!
I totally agree with comments about opening the Gardens roads up in this situation. I realise it was a weekend, but could the Council not have taken more action to send traffic away from Wightman, rather than just having two road closed signs, pretty much right by the road closures where it's too late to do anything as a driver?
Poor show Haringey!!
An update:
"Wightman Road has now been re-opened to south bound traffic with north bound traffic diverted via Beresford Road. The north bound closure will be removed at approximately 11am when temporary traffic signals are in place.
"Demolition contractors are on site and we anticipate all the works necessary to allow the temporary traffic signals to be removed to be completed by 6pm today."
Karen,
Please can you confirm; have temporary lights actually gone in to allow north bound traffic? You said that would be going in at approx. 11am, in your post at around 12:45pm, if the timing I see is correct?
Or is that 11am tomorrow?
Temporary lights have been LIT. Traffic moving both ways along Wightman. Blah blah, etc.
Thanks - now I know I won't have to book an air lift home for me and my car ;)
