We’ve recently had some work done to our house and the builders haven’t completed the work, and have messed up bits of the work as well.
We’ve had them right to look at the issues and they’ve mostly brushed aside the issues with a you got a lot of work for the price so you’ll get what you’re given and like it attitude, including damage to property they caused (the door frame was in bad condition anyway etc),
We also have issue with both the builders and architect with respect to the extent of the work and it included, we asked for certain things that our architect who worked with the builders to bring the price down excluded without our knowledge.
Can anyone offer any advice? Has anyone taken legal action and if could they recommend a local solicitor?
Many thanks

You could start with a look at the Royal Institute of British Architects resolution resources

Likewise you could look into appointing a third party mediator from the RCIS. Our builder has a clause in his contract that says this will be the first step in the light of any disputes arising.

As Michele says, when you're able to do so, post who it is so the rest of us can avoid!
