Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

From: Joyce Rosser - Chair, Haringey Federation of Residents Associations... convenor of the Sustainable Haringey Waste Group

On Wednesday morning 21st April there will be a visit to the Eco Park at Edmonton on the North Circular Road. This is where the rubbish from our wheelie bins goes into the incinerator plant to produce energy and where our green garden and food waste is turned into compost. London Waste offers a 90 minute tour which includes the energy centre and the compost centre *. The 30 people who went in January last year found it extremely interesting (although we froze in the cold weather so this visit is in the spring). For further information about the Eco Park see www.Londonwaste.co.uk.

We can take up to 30 people on the tour. If you would like to take part in the visit let me know (with your email address or phone number). My email address is mailto:jrosser@lineone.net> and my telephone number is 020 8347 7684.

The most sustainable way to get there is the 444 bus from Turnpike Lane bus station which stops right in front of the main gate of the Eco Park. Otherwise it is suggested people go by shared cars (there is a visitors' car park). Arrival 10.00am for 10.30am start.

* Please note this is not where our green box mixed materials recycling goes: that goes to a high tech "Materials Recovery Facility" (MRF) outside of London. I am trying to arrange a visit to the MRF.
