Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

October 2012

Dear local resident

The Environment and Housing Scrutiny Panel is currently scrutinising the new waste and recycling service which is being introduced across of Haringey which has included:

  • weekly collection of recycled waste
  • fortnightly collection of residual waste
  • provision of new recycling bins, and
  • free collection of bulky items.

The panel is looking to see what can be learnt from where this new service has already been introduced (mainly in the west and central parts of Haringey).  These findings will assist plans for the final roll out of the new service (in the east of the borough).   The panel is also looking at the larger question of how to increase recycling rates across the borough.

The panel is keen to hear the views of local residents as well as community and voluntary groups on the following:

  • what has been the impact of the new waste and recycling service including the roll out of the new wheelie bins?
  • what barriers people face to recycling?
  • what can the Council do to encourage people to recycle more and use the correct bins?

You can let the panel have your views in a number of ways:

Online survey: You can submit a response to the consultation through an online survey. This should take no more than 10 minutes to complete, and all completed responses will be put in a draw for one of two £25 vouchers.

                        Complete the online survey here.
