The Environment Agency has published a borough wide report on the state of the environment.
Key Environmental Facts listed:
#There has been an increase in the amount of municipal waste produced in the North London Waste Authority (of which Haringey is a part). However, there has been a reduction in waste to landfill and increase in recycling.
#Approximately 8,000 properties are at risk of flooding in the borough, although defences such as the Lee flood relief channel reduce the risk of this happening.
#The River Lee downstream of Tottenham Lock has shown historically poor chemical and biological water quality, and has limited fish populations as a result.
#Report also notes a carbon footprint of 5.43 tons per person compared to a London average of 5.39 tons.
