Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hello ,

Does anyone know who I can contact about the recycling centre in Haringay? I visit there quite a lot, and last year I took some wood out of the recycling centre that someone had dumped. This year I made it into raised veg beds as I decided to dig out  half my garden and grow veg.

However I went there recently and asked if I could get some more.. apparently this is not really allowed, and I would like to know why? Surely Im recycling in every sense of the word, eg not buying new wood .. so saving trees, stopping wood being dumped in landfill..

There is also people dumping all sorts of lovely stuff in good condition such as tables, chairs, giant fish tanks, etc... that someone could use.. I would really like to find out where this stuff goes??

So would anyone know who to contact to find out?

Hi,

It's crazy what people throw away!  I also wonder why they don't let people help themselves.  In the recycling center in Camden they have a "recycle and reuse" section where people drop things they don't need anymore but can still be used and others can come and pick up things that like.  It's absolutely brilliant and I don't understand why they don't do this in Haringay.

You probably need to call haringay council and talk to customer service, they will know who you need to talk to.

Hello

This is a question that has come up before, so we have created a Harringay Online Wiki page on what happens to furniture and white goods after they are left at the R and R centre. Hopefully you'll find an answer to your question on that page.

If you are looking for things like wood etc, you could try Freecycle? Details also on the wiki page.
