I have delved into the greyer end of the employment market on quite a few occasions... by taking on one of the more eager souls outside the gates of Wickes.
Some have been great, others less so.
Today I had the assistance of a Romanian French teacher by the name of Michael.
He worked incredibly hard, was polite and full of initiative. He and his wife (a trainee nurse) are just trying to get by.
If you need a bloke to help with the garden/painting etc, you could do an awful lot worse than giving Michael a call
His number is 07404265951

probably not, but it's unlikely to have c 35% taken off it in tax and National Insurance...
London Living Wage for 2012 is £8.30
I can recommend Alan Shaw, local N8 tradesman. He's been self-employed for years doing: carpentry (large and small projects), decorating, making/putting up shelves, hanging mirrors, pictures, constructing flat-pack furniture, etc. £20 p. hr. Tel: 07977594874. Very reliable and honest.
Hi Alice
Did you use Michael or Alan in the end? I'm looking for someone to do a couple of small things round the house and wondered whether you could add any comments to Kay's and Stan's.
Thanks!
Rachel
