Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

With so many reasons to be miserable at the moment, time to think both cheerfully and ahead!

So, here is a challenge. While many of us are forced to spend more time at home, lets make the ladder bloom. and get the kids engaged in something positive! There are four ways we can do this:

  1. A sunflower competition. Let's get growing some sunflowers. I have not had any on Pemberton for a year or so, as I have not been organised enough to get some going. That will change this year. Pemberton's raised beds will see a number of great sunflowers, as they have in previous years.
  2. Adopt a planter. There are several planters up and down the Ladder. Lets get the kids out (separately) and start cleaning up, and planting out and looking after some of the planters we have up and down the passage.
  3. Adopt a tree pit. We have tree pits up and down the Ladder, if the raised beds are too much, too far away, or too much of a risk, then adopt a tree pit near your house.
  4. Plant out a pot on your windowsills. If you don't want o risk going too far form home, plant out a put on your windowsill- upstairs or down.

The Friends of the Harringay passage group have some cash potentially available if there are people who would like to participate but might be cash strapped at this difficult time. So we will be happy to make small individual grants of up to £20 for those looking to buy bedding plants to plant out and maintain. I will be happy to get some bedding soil and we can arrange for anyone who needs any to come get some!

If anyone is able to plant out any seeds for bedding plants so we can get some started and don't have to buy them then please let me know and we can find a way of distributing them to those looking for some.

Lovely idea. I would like to revitalise the planters on Cavendish. We can clear the weeds and rubbish but it would be great to have some soil as things I have planted in the past have not survived. Any ideas for hardy plants good for exposed planters would be great.

If I can get hold of the folks in Finsbury park I will get you some.
