Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

So we found a local cat chasing a rat in our back garden a few weeks back; there was an inconclusive life-or-death struggle for about 30 minutes and we did our best to think nothing of it afterwards.
Yesterday there were two cats chasing a rat outside.
Is anyone else having a ratty time at the moment and do you have any words of advice/consolation?

At least the cats seem to be in the majority at the moment! Pity those without cats to scare them off...

We have always had mice on and off  and thought the latest signs in our kitchen were mice until one night saw a RAT!

I called the council and they charge £116 to come 3 times to put poison down. A very nice  guy came round but they're not allowed to  move any thing such as fridges, cupboards etc to get to the vermin or take away dead rats so he suggested I just used my own poison and just charged me a call out charge. I put down poison myself and  3 days later woke up to find half dead rat in the middle of my bathroom floor.  I covered it with a bin. The council guy had given me his number and I called him and he very kindly came round and took it outside and killed it without charging me anything.

Next day - more poison was gone and I feared there were more rats but so far no more signs and no more poison gone so I'm hoping I'm now rat free.
