Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Railway Fields is set to have its pond restored, thanks to a Lottery grant of nearly £40,000.

The pond needs to be relined with clay to prevent it drying up. The water level has dropped by a metre in the last two years, and experts fear the population of frogs, toads and newts will be lost unless repair work is carried out.

National wildlife charity Amphibian and Reptile Conservation will carry out the project, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The charity is also looking for residents to set up a friends group to help look after the nature reserve in future.

Good stuff Hugh i would love to get involved
There's some contact info at the bottom of the original posting here.
Great news.
This is great news; they also have funding to improve the play area too during the spring. I would love to get involved if a friends group was set up. I am happy to try and get details when I'm next in there but would love to be kept informed via HOL if you receive news. Thanks.
Anyone who hasn't been there should give it a go. Really helpful and enthusiastic staff too.
We'll do our best. :o)
