To follow on from previous discussions on this site, this is from the EPUK site as below. It's primarily for working photographers but is open to all.
Who’s afraid of photographers? seminar
A seminar at the House of Commons on Thursday, October 28 will examine the persistent problem of police hindrance of photographers, as well the wider issue of encroaching privacy law.
The event, organised by the NUJ’s Freelance Office with the support of MP Don Foster will see contributions from working photographers and specialist solicitors, as well as ample opportunity for questions from the floor.
John Toner, NUJ Freelance Organiser said: “In recent years society has become increasingly suspicious of anyone holding a camera.
“We have recorded many instances of police officers who believe they can dictate what is or is not filmed and several cases of officers who believe they have a right to seize cameras on a whim.”
The seminar is free, but tickets need to be booked in advance and will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. To book, contact the Freelance Office on freelanceoffice@nuj.org.uk or on 0207 843 3735.
