A six year-old boy who suffers with cerebral palsy had his speech and language computer stolen from the car park of the The London School for Children with Cerebral Palsy in Muswell Hill, N10 on Tuesday 29 September at around 3:45pm.
The equipment enables the young boy to speak and is believed to be useless to anyone without a similar disability.
The computer is called myTobii and was in a large black case, padded on the inside, with a small keyboard and mouse. It has no power cables so it won't even switch on.
Safer Neighbourhoods Chief Inspector Jon Williams said: "I am absolutely appalled by this. We understand that this young boy's means of communication has been stripped from him and we appeal to the better nature of whoever has taken this equipment to return it as a matter of urgency."
Local Safer Neighbourhoods officers are aware of the theft are assisting with enquiries.
Anyone with information is asked to call Haringey police on 0300 123 1212 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
