Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

The StART Housing Allocation Survey is open for just a few more days. StART would like and appreciate as many people as possible to input to the survey which doesn't take much more than 10 minutes at most.

As many of you probably already know, the GLA has purchased the development site at St Ann's Hospital and is committed to providing a minimum of 50% genuinely affordable homes, ie at council rent levels.

StART has been acknowledged as a major community stakeholder by the GLA and is actively pursuing it's remit as a Community Benefit Society / Community Land Trust with the GLA.

Hope that people take this opportunity to express their views on the housing allocation for this groundbreaking project. :-)

I have completed but this survey as always is unfair and does not allow true opinions to be expressed. For example where it asks about capital it doesn’t give an option to disagree. Where it asks about income again no option to disagree. Once again whoever designed this survey is trying to steer it to get the answers they want..disgusting!!!

Hi Nick, that’s very strange, the survey I completed had a box under each question where I was able to express an opinion / comment, with a further box at the end of the survey for any overall opinions / comments.

I think the survey might still be available online, so perhaps you might still wish to express your opinions, rather than troll a bunch of extremely hard working volunteers, on a public forum.

I am not a troll and have been a Haringey resident for 54 years living near this site and have a right to an opinion. what I was referring to was the question about income and capital as It does not give you an option to say you don’t agree with any income limit. Maybe you should re look at the survey. 

Hi Nick, I have had another look at the survey, and there is clearly a space to comment on the question about income, question #4, & capital, question #5. I am presuming you completed the hard copy as opposed to the online version.

I think, because there was no room on the page (hard copy) to include a comment box, it is overleaf before question #6 about property size and you overlooked this. There is plainly a comment box after question #4 about income. I kept a copy of the hard copy for future reference and have it to hand as I write.

I am happy to apologise and retract my inference to trolling, hopefully you might feel the same about your comments, earlier, too. (Sorry for the poor quality images)

If you take a look at the online survey, which is still available at: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeajqfegksjMizEx1sJFBMbySy... you will note that there are plainly comment boxes after the question# 4 - ‘income levels’ and question# 5 ‘capital & savings’

I say again, the volunteers trying to make StART a reality are doing so in an effort to alleviate the chronic lack of housing available for social/genuinely affordable rent.

I can only applaud their efforts against a housing system that is skewed in favour of profit taking at the expense of those least capable of affording it.

Thank you for sending that. My point is that as you can see the first questions you can disagree yet the last ones just have the option to say don’t know. I agree I can now see the notes but why can’t they have an option to disagree with having any capital or income limit? I am not in any way trying to disrespect the efforts of whoever wrote this survey. I was frustrated as too many times Haringey Council does this when sending out surveys. I will apologise if I caused offence to anyone but still feel there should be a box to disagree with the latter. How many Haringey residents earn £340000? How many have savings? That’s what I was trying to say

Regarding your last post, I think you’ll find that the maximum amount for Capital & Savings was in fact £34,000, rather than £340,000.

FWIW I think that quite a few people in Haringey who own their properties have an asset worth £340,000 or more.

I think because StART are trying to provide social housing at genuinely affordable social rents, the figure of £34,000 is an attempt that ensure only those in genuine need will be able to apply for a 4-bedroom home. The survey is just trying to gauge opinion on whether folk think this is too high, or too low, about right, or don’t know.
