Gone are the days when I used to keep up with planning applications. So thank you to a neighbour for flagging up this planning application. I'm not quite sure what I feel about it. What about you? Comments due to close very soon.

Just noticed that you are at CABE Rachel. Have you come across Kathy MacEwan? She was a colleague of mine when I worked in Camden's planning service.

Hi there yup I was at CABE until 18 months ago. In 2010 CABE had its funding cut by government and we merged with the Design Council. I left DC in 2012 and am now at the National Housing Federation. But I worked really closely with Kathy who's still at DC Cabe and is absolutely brilliant. Also, while at DC we commissioned Peter Bishop to write a review for us and I worked really closely with him (many extended train journeys around the country) as well. Camden definitely turns out excellent planners!

Thanks Hugh - no longer at CABE (which is now housed at the Design Council). I'm at the National Housing Federation - trade body for Housing Associations, but still doing lots of policy work on design / planning / sustainability etc.

Yeeehaa!!! more of this please!! pull down every other street on the ladder and replace with stuff like this. its time to let Victoria and Albert go. Brunnel would be spinning in his grave if he knew we were still living in such drafty old barns.
Not to mention the damage to the purity of the London accent! Birmingham is all red brick - ever wondered why they all sound so miserable.

I happen to know Niloufar a little, and I know that she has developed quite a few ladder properties. She doesn't live around here, but has been responsible for a number of improved properties. I think she's likely to do a very good job on this, with a high end finish. There are a few new houses locally that try to imitate the Victorian style, always poorly, in my opinion. I think this looks like a very interesting departure.

Good to hear that this should be built out to a high standard, if approved.
It's worth a look at the architects' website and some of their completed designs - looks like they've been responsible for some finely detailed and constructed residential projects (and not too many budget sheds with windows..).

Yes I think this is quite a nice design. I'm pleased to see it is targeting Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 and states that it is using recycled building materials where possible.
However I'm very dissapointed to see there isn't even the use of solar thermal hot water. There is no reason why it shouldn't be incorporated into the design beyond cost. The site is not much overshadowed and photovoltaics or solar thermal would both work well.
