Places still available for the free Mixed Media Art Workshops this coming weekend at Bruce Castle Museum

To accompany the new exhibition ‘To the Light’ opening this week at Bruce Castle Museum, the artist Rosalind Davis is leading a number of free art workshops related to her work.

Rosalind Davis is a mixed media artist and her paintings use various techniques and unusual materials to great effect.

Davis’s paintings in this exhibition were created following the riots of 2011 http://www.tothelight.co.uk/ )

There are places are still available for this coming Saturday’s workshops (Saturday 17th August, both morning and afternoon sessions).

There are additional workshops too in August and September too.

The details are as follows -
(please note that – with the exception of the experimental embroidery session – the content of all the other three workshops are the same, and are not different sessions):

Experimental Mark-making and Drawing Workshops
Sat 17th August, 10am to 12.30pm
Experiment with mark-making with a range of mediums to explore architecture, geometry, pattern, composition and colour using drawing, collage and photos to make an imaginative picture to take home with you.

Mixed Media workshops with Rosalind Davis; Sat 17th August 1.30 to 3.30pm
Experiment with mark-making with a range of mediums to explore architecture, geometry, pattern, composition and colour using drawing, collage and photos to make an imaginative picture to take home with you.

Experimental embroidery classes with Rosalind Davis; 21st August from 10am to 12.30
Create and explore different possibilities in embroidery techniques which can then be used as mark-making or drawing tool. These techniques will then be applied on imagery to make rich textures and surfaces with stitch (Age 14+)
