Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Is there somewhere I could pick elderflowers in Harringay without annoying people by stealing it out of their gardens or damaging local wildlife? Having grown up in the country, we used wild elderflowers growing by the roadside all the time to make jam or cordial, but does any such thing exist in Harringay? Or can you buy picked elderflowers anywhere? It might take a while for my own freshly planted bush to flower....:-)

Thanks!

Not quite Harringay, but there's loads of elder bushes around the Hornsey water treatment works, next to the New River estate, in particular the pedestrian path between Chadwell Lane & Newland Road. Happy flower hunting!

There are plenty on a large bush overhanging the pavement on Burgoyne - on the left going down the hill after the new river.

Last year we picked lots along the New River. This year we went a little early but managed to get enough. You could also get lots in St Ann's Hospital grounds.

I also think that most people who have it in their front gardens do not pick the flowers so you could always just ring on a door bell and ask if it's ok.

Thanks all!

You need to pick very soon. They're already past their best by a week or two. We picked the ones at the back of the basketball courts in Finsbury Park last weekend. Parkland Walk has some (between F/Park and Blythwood Road) but the low hanging flowers have been snaffled.

I always used to get mine from Parkland Walk but London ones are always so early...they'll taste a bit manky if you picked them now. I got mine this year from the garden we've been given to develop - three small tress but was enough for 4 litres of cordial :)
