I've just been at Le Bistro restaurant in Hornsey High Street chatting with Rita about their Piaf evening next month.
It looks like it's going to be a great evening. They have West End chanteuse Susan Black performing for two hours on 4th February (a kind of pre-Valentines treat).
Le Bistro heard about Susan from a customer, had her in to do a voice test and loved her so much they booked her there and then.
But you don't have to take their word for it, take a peek below at the taster video Susan's published on YouTube.
Le Bistro's been in the same place since the early eighties. Something of a survivor with a loyal clientele. I hope their evening is a runaway success and it keeps them around for another thirty! One guy walked in and booked a table for 6 whilst I was there, so it looks like it might be popular (BTW, Alan/ Steve, I told the guy all about Massy Mecke).
If you like Piaf and good French food, I guess you could either pay West End Prices or combine the two for forty quid and keep it local.
(Oh and one more thing - if you're on Twitter, could you help me convince Rita that Twitter is worthwhile and follow them on @LeBistroLondon).
And here'a a pic of the restaurant from their Facebook page:
