I was on a train to Gospel Oak yesterday pm and a man on a pedal bike snatched a phone on the platform. He left via the ramp and must have accessed the platform in the same way. I heard the victim shouting 'give me my phone back'...
I hope she got some support from staff at the station.

While awareness of phone theft on the streets by ride-by thieves must by now be widespread, it certainly hadn't occurred to me (at least) that the exact same event could happen on a railway station platform.
But locally the Overground stations at Harringay Green Lanes, Upper Holloway and Walthamstow Queens Rd have access ramps from street level, giving the same opportunity.
Thank you Biba for this alert - I will attempt to keep my friends close and my enemies phone closer...
I was upstairs on 253 bus from Stamford Hill to Manor House the other day in the seats near the stairs to the back door. The woman sat over from me was browsing on her phone, and when the bus stopped at the Manor House stop a kid grabbed the phone, ran down the stairs and out the back door, before anyone had a chance to alert the driver. I've always felt relatively safe to have my phone out on the bus but this has made me a bit more wary.
