Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Is Haringey Council the only business in the world to charge customers more for a longer deal? So the longer you commit to, the worse the deal? I've just renewed my parking permit and it's £41 for 6 months or £83 for 12. So the ecomony of scale is weighted towards a shorter time period. Well done the economists and marketeers on the council!

Actually, I've noticed that pricing model to be increasingly common in supermarkets.  It is very often cheaper pro-rata to buy the smaller packs.

It's probably because they plan to put up the price of a permit soon ( when did they not ? ) and they don't want you to craftily save by buying a yearly one

That was my first thought too

I think John D is bang on the money! As a contractor this stealth tax is so prohibitive. If the client has no permits then I can't do the repair procedure. Elsewhere in the UK one can purchase an annual parking permit for an entire borough. Why not in Harringay?

I’ve had a look at what neighbouring boroughs do and in Camden you can buy a daily permit that allows you to park in three selected streets near where you are working, in Islington it’s not clear but you have to specify the site you are working at and it’s for one day, Hackney do an all zones permit that costs up to £3,000 a year and Haringey do one for a single specific street that costs £150 a month.p or £8 per day
