Rohann Ernest, Year 8 Team Deputy at Park View School N15, is one of nine prizewinners in the Haringey Council-sponsored scheme, Haringey Heroes.
Mr Ernest collected his award on Tuesday night for his dedication and commitment to extra-curricular athletics within Park View school.
Rohann Ernest organises training twice a week for Park View students that includes many disciplines of track and field events such as high jump, long jump, triple jump, hurdles and sprints. He attends all athletics events and has given his full commitment in making the athletics team a real success. Park View’s athletics team is a family of students who work together to achieve successes for the love of sport and their achievement is in no small part a credit to Rohann’s hard work.
Mr Ernest has made the extra-curricular activities a club where all students are welcome to join the athletics team, regardless of their athletic ability. His effort in setting achievable goals that meet student aspirations has resulted in an increase in students well-being, behaviour and personal goals. The athletic squads have gone on to great successes including English school regional finalists, Borough champions for both boys and girls, Lee Valley indoor and outdoor champions and most recently three of our young athletes winning gold medals at the Middlesex Championships.
Congratulations to Mr Ernest on his win - great to see a teacher recognised for his hard work in a local school!
Over 300 residents were nominated by their fellow residents as Haringey Heroes for the goodwill, achievement and community spirit they show around the borough.
Haringey Heroes include staff and pupils from twenty schools, sports coaches and musicians, police officers, doctors, carers and artists who support their neighbours, deliver outstanding public services and volunteer in the community.
