I suppose today's noisy 4pm succession of cars that honked southwards along Green Lanes waving red flags bearing the black eagle were celebrating the independence of Albania in 1912. Judging by the number, size and quality of the cars, our Albanian community is fairly large and doing pretty well.

Well there's certainly enough of them to make noise. If the BBC and Border Force are to be believed between 1 and 2 % of the adult male population have recently arrived in England.
What a passive aggressive post, well done.
They bunged up central London which was quite inconsiderate and disrespectful and that's on top of draping the Albanian flag over Churchill's statue! Imagine their reaction if someone draped another flag over the statues of Skanderbeg in Tirana!
And where did they get all those Audis and BMWs? They've only been here for five minutes.
It will be interesting when they start taking an interest in the shops on Green Lanes and related opportunities.
I can't say that I witnessed anyone drape their hero's statue when I lived there but I doubt whether many Albanians would be outraged by British flags. Serbian flags would be another matter as, perhaps, would Italian flags. It was after all the Treaty of London 1913 that secured their independence.
