Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi there,

I am keen to paint the front of our house, as we currently have the rendering as it is and flakey window ledges etc.

Can anyone recommend a good exterior painter? How much is a reasonable amount to pay for this?

Also, if anyone has a pale blue house, can they tell me which exact colour that is?!

Thank you very much,

Fran

There's a starter for 10 on this page (Look under House painter - Exterior).
You will probably need scaffolding, that bumps up the cost. Builders/painters are not allowed to wobble about on ladders any more. Doing the rendering would be v tricky on ladders.

I just did a bit of looking at costs and it seems to be from 250 to 400 a week. If the house is flat ie no bays, you may get away with one of those wheeled platform thingies.

Happy googling.
Thank you for your help and advice. I think with a bay window we will be looking at scaffolding! I will get googling and maybe try and find a recommendation on here for a good tradesman.
Thanks again.
I personally like the grey pebble dash, sue me.
OK you're sued. Pebble dash is a waste of pebbles.
I can live with the pebble dash on the right sort of house, but not such a fan of pebble-dashing or other exterior treatments on one house in a terrace. (And I'm a real unfan of brick-red paint on houses).

Fran, feast your eyes on this lot.
You won't need scaffolding, quite a few people are happy to do it without. We had ours done last year and I refused to have scafolding. Not a problem.
I'll second that - ours being done as we speak, no scaffolding in sight. I was told by someone else that its only a legal requirement if it is a 3 story building, no idea if that is true.
Brilliant! would you mind giving me the contact for your painters? if you are happy with the job when finished and it seems like a reasonable price.
Thank you very much!
Hi we have a pale blue house (Lothair Road North) - painted with Sandtex exterior Colour M4810H (High colour smooth)

Chris Stevens Trade decorators on Holloway Road have a great selection of colours - Dulux and Santex are main brands I think.

We did not need scafolding when our house was re painted but i would imagine you would need it for rendering.

Sorry can't give recommendation as person who did ours not available at the mo.
