Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

This from the Islington Gazette,  from a neighbouring borough to Haringey. Tens of thousands live in the 'blast' zone around Finsbury park and are subjected to the hell of Wireless noise, loss of the park, anti-social behaviour, drug taking and dealing, vandalism by Haringey, Live Nation and festival goers (Haringey damaged trees and cut branches contrary to Land Use rules) neighbouring streets blocked by vehicles and people as they left, urination in public places and front gardens and to add to the mix...http://www.islingtongazette.co.uk/news/crime-court/security_slammed...

Local residents in all three boroughs affected, Haringey, Hackney and Islington have had enough. Live Nation have broken the terms of their license yet again but as they appear to be in a joint venture with Haringey Council we get nothing but spin.

We need to make a stand and get rid of this stupid festival. Its destroyed the park! I was there yesterday and they still dismantling the site and it seems they taking their time to do it.

I live in Hackney, just south of theory and for all of us in our road its hell. The outsiders refers to the Islington Gazette. And I'm happy to be biased. As one of the Friends of Finsbury Park I hate seeing the park sold to commercial interested and for residents to suffer.
Local papers, national papers, BBC London news, all said the same thing

A quick google suggests this is not the case, unless I'm looking in the wrong place. I've googled 'wireless festival 2015 gatecrash' and 'wireless festival 2015 mob' and 'wireless festival 2015'. Most reports seem to just show the video with a bit of comment. No one else seems to be suggesting that security was 'slammed' and there's nothing about the misery of local residents, except in that Gazette article. Even the Ma*l is quite restrained.

There are three videos.....

I've seen the videos. I don't understand how that equates to local and national news all saying the same as the Islington Gazette. They didn't.

I've lived here a while and in my experience, we do not need the Wireless Festival to bring on the open drug dealing/taking or the urinating in the streets. You can find that at anytime.

Yup... but actually I didn't compare, I said the Wireless wall reminded me of the west bank wall... bit different...

I've got a recording on my phone of harrasment and abuse from a so called dog handler on what was a public path through the park and where I was entitled to take pictures., at about midday before the event started. I was unimpressed by this guy who had no idea or briefing from Live Nation...

I see you've edited this from your first reply. I saw the word allegory flying around...The barricades remind me of the Berlin wall, the west bank wall, the fencing around the POW camp my father was in at the end of WW2, the fencing around prisons I remember from my childhood in Kenya, animal stockades in the midwest of America and so on. A visual reminder with no reference to the activities going on either side.

I don't understand this at all. I'm not the first and only to mention the wall, and I never mentioned anything about free concerts - i just think Finsbury pk is an inappropriate venue for giant events that deprive those without gardens in particular a bit of outside space. I'm trying really hard to understand your thought patters too...As I said above, 'a visual reminder'.

Excellent, very good news. Many with kids, particularly the Somali community, are terrified by these events...
