Opportunity to help set up transition estates

Message from Transition Finsbury Park:

You may have picked up that TFP is part of a group trying to win £1 million for the Manor House area. Well, one of the things we'd like to do is Transition Streets but change it to Transition Estates. Transition Streets is a community building and behaviour change programme that has beenvery successful in Totnes: Neighbours meet over 7 sessions to examine one aspect of their carbon footprint e.g. energy consumption or food miles. This helps them save money on bills, heat their homes more cheaply and make friends. It's also a way to live more sustainably by helping the community reduce its carbon footprint. But could this model work on London's estates? Let's work out how!

COULD YOU BE PART OF THE TEAM TO HELP DEVELOP A 5 YEAR PLAN?

• You will need to have full or partial daytime availability between now and the end of June - able to attend meetings, follow up meeting actions efficiently and be prepared to assist in writing the Lottery's project plan.
• You will be able to collaborate effectively with Groundwork (project lead), Haringey, Hackney, Berkeley Homes and Genesis Homes.
• The Transition Network can offer training in how they ran the project in Totnes, but it's up to us to adapt it so it works for Manor House.
• You should live locally, have a good understanding of what transition towns are trying to achieve and be happy to represent Transition Finsbury Park.
• This is a voluntary position but is an excellent opportunity for someone wishing to go into this kind of work or to make Manor House a better place to live.
