Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

The magnificent Grade 1 listed building of Bruce Castle is once again part of the annual Open House London event next weekend on Saturday 20 & Sunday 21 September.

Along with tours of Bruce Castle from 1.30pm on each day, the neighbouring medieval church of All Hallows will also be open on both Saturday and Sunday 2 – 5pm.

There will be a café running at Bruce Castle, as well as Art2View in the Tower with their artwork … and a very special difference this year is the opportunity  to have live jazz musicians for a Jazz Picnic by the Tower, thanks to Haringey Council’s Tottenham Summer Festival programme.

Please note that if you have got an Open House booklet, there are unfortunately a few small errors in the entry for Bruce Castle Museum and All Hallows – the details written here are all correct.

Also missing an entry in the OH booklet is the annual self-guided tour of neighbouring Tower Gardens Estate – it is still on this year regardless of the omission, so pop along on Sunday 21 September10am – 4pm to the Information Pick Up Point at 5 Tower Gardens Road N17 7PX.

There are of course lots of things going on for that weekend in Tottenham (and Haringey generally) for Open House – from the Eco Hub in Lordship Rec to Tottenham Civic Society leading walks in the Tottenham Green Conservation Area and Hornsey Historical Society in Muswell Hill.

Also at Bruce Castle on Sunday 21 September will be Groundwork with museum staff and the Friends of Bruce Castle showing off the fabulous planting of raised beds that were created as part of the Summer Activities Programme. There will be seeds to take home and a chance to harvest the vegetables that have been grown, as well as information about getting involved in gardening in the park.
