Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Oneplace: independent information about how public services are tackling major issues in the area

Known also, less snappily, as the Comprehensive Area Assessment and run by the Audit commission, Oneplace is a website where you can find about how councils, police, health services and others are tackling the major issues in every area in England

There is a short video explaining it here

The One place website is here

This site has had a huge amount of interest. I was trying it earlier today and couldn't access it becasue it was too busy.

Here's a link to the report on Haringey.
Thanks Hugh, useful link. I was having similar problems with getting it to respond to the postcode search due to the high volume of traffic.
The site was featured on the Today programme this morning.
The video linked to is pretty good for explaining what it does. Had no trouble accessing that
It's fine now.

One thing that I didn't understand - there is a list of things that Haringey's public services have agreed are challenges, the first one of which is "people at the heart of change" (is that a challenge btw?). When you look at the discussion of this, there is loads of stuff about "The Partnership", but I've no idea what it is!! What is the partnership? Who are the local partners? Is this the Audit Comm's jargon or ours?

But interesting stuff.
The site's busy again Alison, so I can't check, but I imagine it'll be referring to the Haringey Strategic Partnership (HSP)
It uses Windows Sharepoint. Expensive and slow. Nice one.
I wonder if this site gives any insight into why Children's Services in Camden & Tower Hamlets are rated 'excellent' as opposed to Haringey's 'poor' rating (BBC article). Surely these areas have similar challenges?
Matt, you've hit the nail on the head. I could find no insights on this site.

It's a plodding, hi-tech celebration of the bean-counters. And not just of their triumph, but the coronation of their belief that counting beans is all that matters. Since this guarantees every aspect of cultivation, harvest, food value, cuisine, aroma and savour. The target culture is dead! Long live the Comprehensive Area Assessment!
