History buffs will be familiar with the increasingly rare evidence of the old Municipal Boroughs of Hornsey and Tottenham which merged into Haringey in 1965. As our pavements in the ladder are gradually being resurfaced, I suppose that the clear evidence in Seymour Road of the old boundary between Hornsey and Tottenham may disappear before long.
Here on the south side of the street between numbers 94 and 96 is not only the cast iron boundary marker (1934 B.H.) but the clear evidence of how careful the councils were to pave only up to their own edge of the line. Flag stones in Tottenham, tarmac in Hornsey.
On the north side, diagonally across to a point between numbers 93 and 95, stands another cast iron marker and, under the fallen leaves, the same careful paving.
