Love the look of these three free events at the South Bank this summer
A Great Day Out on Sea (until 4th September) Queens Walk
The parks’ team from Southend-on-Sea Borough Council has created a fantastic floral exhibit. A Great Day Out-on-Sea takes you on a horticultural journey along the seafront of Southend-on-Sea, from formal Victorian gardens to the historic cockling industry at Leigh-on-Sea. The bright colours and subtropical plants popular with the Victorians provide a stark contrast to the native maritime plants found growing along the coastline.
Urban beach
(until 4th September) Queens Walk
Experience a piece of the British seaside in central London, on our 70-metre beach that appears on Queen’s Walk for the duration of the Festival of Britain celebrations. Just don’t forget your bucket and spade!
and for when you need to cool down, old favourite
Appearing Rooms (until 18th September) Riverside Terrace
Danish artist Jeppe Hein's hugely poplular Appearing Rooms returns to Southbank Centre. Jets of water shoot into the air, creating 'rooms' that disappear as quickly as they emerge, inviting visitors of all ages to try their luck at predicting its next move.
