OFFICE MANAGER

Do you like getting things sorted out? Do messy desks drive you mad?
Do spreadsheets make you smile?

Growing Communities is looking for an inspired and creative organiser to be our Office Manager at Growing Communities, a community led organic fruit and veg box scheme which also runs the Stoke Newington Farmers’ Market and is one of the pioneers of urban food growing in the UK.

The job involves managing and improving our office and IT systems, making sure our finance systems run smoothly and assisting the Director with personnel and employment matters.

Based at our office in Stoke Newington, London.

Growing Communities is a social enterprise run by local people. We are working to transform food and farming through community-led trade and to provide people with practical alternatives to the damaging food system that currently exists.
• Our Organic Fruit and Vegetable Box Scheme currently packs over 1000 bags of fresh, seasonal produce each week, supplied in line with a strict buying policy prioritising direct, local suppliers.
• The Stoke Newington Farmers' Market is the first market in the UK where all the produce is organic and which works to support small scale sustainable farmers and producers based within a 129 miles of Hackney.
• Our Urban Market Gardens are based on three small sites in Hackney. We specialise in salads, a volunteer work team helps us with this task and the food grown is sold through the Box Scheme.

Office Manager £23,045 (plus discount on veg/fruit bag), 5 days a week (37.5 hours): normal office hours except Wednesdays which are 12 – 8 pm.

CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS IS 5.00pm Friday 21st January 2010
Interviews will be on Monday 31st January 2010

Growing Communities, The Old Fire Station, 61 Leswin Road, London N16 7NX
