Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Video: Dog mauls our cat to death

Video: Careless owner and dog return next day and enter yard again

Last month, an off-lead dog entered the front yard of our next door neighbours where our cat was relaxing as she usually does and mauled her to death. The owner made very little effort to stop the dog attack and even proceeded to return with the dog the next day to let it roam the front yard again.

Intended to post this last month but have been busy with the police who unfortunately are unable to do anything about the attack as the man is unidentifiable.

Our family is devastated about the loss of our sweet Tiddles who we have had for over 13 years. I feel I would be doing a disservice to the community by not sharing this as next time it might not be a cat, but a young child. To the man who continues to allow his clearly aggressive dog to roam the streets (we have caught it on our doorbell camera), you should be ashamed of your dangerous actions.

This incident occurred on Effingham Road. If anyone happens to recognise the owner or dog please do let us know. Please keep your aggressive dogs on a leash.

I am so sorry Eden to read this. Incredibly upsetting, sickening and heartbreaking for you. I really hope this can be stopped. We had two deceased stray cats on our road recently and the vet suspected a fox attack but I’m now thinking it may have been this out of control dog and his careless owner. Thank you for raising this here so that everyone can keep an eye out!

Two potential attacks in the same street? That's awful. What end of the Ladder are you?

If it's the same dog, we have to conclude the owner is wilfully allowing it to attack other animals and is letting it roam off the lead to do so. That's got to be some kind of criminal offence.

The cats were found on Hewitt Road. One on 27 January and the other on 9 February. We took them to the vet and the first one had a bite wound and the second no obvious signs, but very odd to be occurring within a couple of weeks.

That fits with what I've just posted below - someone's told me the dog is walked every afternoon along the New River Path between Hampden Road and Hewitt Road. So it's known to be in that area.

That is so very strange.

Our vet also suspected a fox attack at first! If we didn't check our front door camera we would have had no idea what our cat endured. I honestly really hope that the owner is not just letting his dog go around killing cats as it pleases. Im including all of this in the email I'm going to send to the police officer on my case.

Hey Eden, I just posted the video in a community WA group I'm in and someone's messaged me straight back and said the dog is called Kai and the owner walks him every afternoon between 4pm and 5pm on the New River Path between the mosque on Hampden Road and the Wightman Road exit that is opposite Hewitt Road. The person who messaged me says they think it's an XL bully and should be muzzled but isn't. Hope that helps.

Thank you so very much! I didn't expect this post to be as helpful as it has. You are the second person to have possibly identified the owner/ dog. I am including this in the email I'm sending to the police officer in charge of the case. I really hope they are able to do something now that we have possibly identified him.

There have been a couple more reports in the WA group about this man and dog on the New River Path in the afternoons. The dog has attacked other dogs. People are convinced it's an XL but the owner claims otherwise.
