Following the receipt, by residents of Falkland Road, of notices from the Council requiring the cutting back of hedges in circumstances where this appeared to me to be unnecessary, I have written to council officers in the following terms:

This seems very rich considering the council has nothing about the hedge/russian vine (or whatever it is) cascading over half of the pavement on Westbury Avenue.
That explains everything - we did think it was a little odd seeing so many people pruning their hedges over the weekend. You have to admit though, the street is looking a lot smarter as a result.
David. I saw this message last week and wondered if it was just Falkland that had had notices. It made me think of a few others around the Ladder that a hair cut would not harm. I could not remember specifics off the top of my head, so it slid.
Earlier this afternoon I nearly had my eye out on a bush that constantly catches me, and I expect pretty much everyone above 1.40m in height. See pics below. This is 51 Cavendish, and it is impossible to follow the Passage and not get caught by this bush.
It is a lovely bush (sadly), but not sure how appropriate it is to have it overhang to this degree.
I am not sure what to do with this if I am honest. If the council have a programme to make sure bushes throughout the borough/ Ladder are nicely trimmed, then fine, but if the effort is limited to Falkland Rd then this might worth forwarding to expand the programme?
What do you think?
