Children from three Haringey schools launched the borough's own Primary School Cycling League with the first event at Chestnuts Park last week.
The league is aimed at years 4, 5 and 6 pupils and was organised this year by North Harringay School. Competitors also included pupils from Risley and Chestnuts Primary Schools. The event saw children compete in various races on the oval track, including the slowest ride!
Funding for the league came from the council's Smarter Travel programme which enabled North Harringay Schools to buy bikes and other necessary equipment.
Outstanding winners on the day were Mia Coffman (aged 9) who won 3 out of 3 races and Josh Hunt (aged 11) who won 2 out of 3 races, both attend North Harringay Primary School.
