Haringey's WW1 Conscientious Objectors:  an exhibition by the Peace Pledge Union with support from the Heritage Lottery Fund

From 29 April 2015

Looking at Religion, Politics, Work Camps and Prison, the Peace Pledge Union considers the hundreds of Haringey men who made the difficult and unpopular decision to refuse to fight in the Great War.

The Story of Local Conscientious Objectors in World War One.
Research undertaken locally reveals experiences of Conscientious Objectors from Haringey. The consequences of the actions are presented by Jennifer Bell, of Hornsey Historical Society and Haringey WW1 Peace Forum, in light of how the law operated at the time and the reasons why men felt it was wrong to fight the war.
