Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

This piece of utterly pointless and spiteful vandalism seems to have happened on Friday evening - anyone hear anything?

Get in touch with Haringey Tree Wardens (google them). They were very helpful when one of our new trees got partially blown over in a storm, although I did need to hassle them a little.

At least you guys had tree protectors, our tiny tree's in wooders have been like sitting ducks for months now ( apart from when I mentioned it last time on here and barriers were placed for 24 hours around them, then taken away again ).
Well you could do something about it and follow up with the council in the time you spent posting here?
The tree's are right outside the council offices and have been for months. I couldn't tell them what they clearly already know.

Comically your advice however is beautifully ironic. Although obviously lost on you.
It would have been ironic if not for my first comment. Where exactly are these trees? I can ask Alex Fraser at the council to re-use our redundant tree protectors if the trees aren't replaced.

You can report tree problems direct to the council anonymously here.

You can also leave your name/email and they will deal with it.

I am involved with Haringey Tree Wardens - we are an unincorporated group of ordinary residents from various wards in the borough, nothing to do with the Council although we have a lot of contact with the Tree Service.

It has been my direct experience that they act reasonably quickly when they know about something - a tree falling into the road was dealt with very quickly, dog damage more slowly.

If you see any people (or dogs) damaging trees I advise you not to get directly involved in case it escalates and to be discreet when reporting people who might know where you live etc.

p.s. The council are doing some planting in three local parks on the next few Friday mornings so if you'd like to be there, please do come along and see how it's done, take some photos, maybe grab a shovel or just chat about trees if you're that way inclined:

Fri 13th March – Woodside Park N22 (10 trees to be planted)

Fri 20th March – Belmont Recreation Ground N17 (5 trees to be planted)

Fri 27th March – Priory Park N8 (8 trees to be planted)

Details will be on the website and Facebook - please add your name to the mailing list on HaringeyTreeWardens.org.uk to find out more.
