Set off digging around for stuff after
Alison P's post just now on betting shops, I've caught up with what's happening with the Sustainable Communities Act.
Things look potentially promising.
A new post on the Local Government Association's site offers an overview of the proposals for new powers it will be making under the Act.
This pdf includes:
- proposals to give councils more powers to control what happens on our local high streets, including, I think, controlling betting shops.
- more control over local transport
- more oppoertunity for citzens to have a say in local government
I've only skimmed the publication, so maybe it's nothing. Anyone else know more about this?
