Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Just to let you know, I've been burgled on tuesday the 12th of July while I was on holiday !

So please be aware, keep an eye on suspicious people and lock your doors day and night while you're not at home !!!

The police could not find any finger prints, they were wearing gloves.

Anyone know where you can buy a London Bar lock for front doors? I've never seen them in shops???

I got one in Homebase but that was a few years back...

Oohhhh is that what a London Bar looks like??? I thought they were like those ceiling -to-floor bar bolts that you get in European apartment doors!  I can't imagine these really do much to help do they?!

They really do. If you imagine a Yale lock has 2-3 screws, all in the same area- a limited amount of force will easily have all three out if someone breaking in gives it a good shove. This is what happened at one neighbours/ A London Bar has something like 10-12 screws in addition to the Yale/mortise lock and you have to apply sufficient pressure the whole length of the door frame if you were to try to get in. As I said, my other neighbour had one and they pretty much destroyed the door and failed to get in because of this.

It covers up the frame.  When someone kicks the door in they normally bust the frame rather than the door.  You can get a Birmingham bar to cover the opposite side where the hinges are.

Ok well the object that Justin Guest ^ sent me a link to, was just a small bracket that goes over the side of a yale lock (with 2 screws).  Seems there are a few different interpretations of what a London Bar actually is!!

sorry, you are right... This is the place I got mine form, it should run frame length top to bottom... This looks more like it.

Ohhhhh yes i see, thanks for clearing that up. Yes might think about getting one of those! Thank you

Actually....just went past BucEnham locksmith shop on Blackstock Road . They had some in the window
