Murder Investigation Launched after Body Found in Finsbury Park

Following the discovery of a body at the edge of the old cricket pitch in Finsbury Park, the Metropolitan Police have concluded that a person died in suspicious circumstances and have launched a murder inquiry.

The police believe that the young woman who was found died on Christmas Eve. The body was relatively well hidden by the old equipment hut so it remained hidden until today.

While the surrounding 'scene' is  searched for any possible evidence, the whole American Gardens section of the park is closed including the Endymion Road entrance along with the one next to the old cricket pitch on Green Lanes.

Also closed is the entrance off Green Lanes.

The Manor House gate is open, the one I’ve mentioned above on Green Lanes is closed. Is there another one?

The one further along going north on GL, from Manor House at the crossing/lights was closed this aft.

Ok thanks, I’m guessing that’s the one I mentioned in the original post.

How terrible - poor, poor woman, and so hard for her family.

Truly devastating. Thinking of her family. When appropriate would be nice to show some community solidarity and support to her family in some way.

There's an article in the sky news website with more info. but i don't know how to transfer it.

Hi

This news release was issued by the Metropolitan police about 6.50pm tonight, December 28. No arrests so far, not for me to give advice, but some extra caution may be wise, until the suspect(s) is caught.

I can not post the release directly, but have copied and pasted it. Condolences to the friends and family of the woman we have lost.

Metropolitan Police - Dec 28, 2017 18:50 GMT

[Victim: Iuliana Tudos]

A young woman whose body was found after Christmas in Finsbury Park, north London, has been named by police as Iuliana Tudos.

Detectives launched a murder investigation following the discovery of the body by a member of the public at 16:25hrs on Wednesday, 27 December. The 22-year-old was found near the sports area in the centre of the park.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and Iuliana was prounounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin, who are currently abroad, have now been informed.

A post-mortem examination is currently ongoing at Haringey Mortuary, with a result expected by Friday, 29 December.

No arrests have been made and a crime scene remains in place.

DCI Nicola Wall, from the Homicide and Major Crime Command, who is leading the investigation, appealed to the public to come forward with any information they may have that could help officers.

She said: “Iuliana's body was discovered in an outbuilding next to a sports pitch. We believe that she may have been attacked on Saturday, 24 December - Christmas Eve - but we want to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in that part of Finsbury Park over the Christmas period.

We are still trying to piece together a timeline of events and are pursuing a number of lines of enquiry as regards to a motive"

Anyone with information is requested to call the dedicated incident room on 0208 785 8244, tweet @MetCC or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

More on this in an ITV report.......(and all over the internet apparently).

Daily Mail....with loads of comments!

The Parkrun in Finsbury Park is cancelled tomorrow because of this incident. The message on the parkrun newspage asks "If anyone attended the Christmas day run and saw anything unusual, particularly at the north of the park near the baseball fields, please contact the police non-emergency number on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111".
