Mountview Academy Launch Competiton to Find North London’s Brightest Young Talent

Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts has issued a challenge to 14-18 year olds in North London, launching a brand new competition celebrating the world’s greatest playwright. From Shakespeare’s birthday, Thursday 23 April, young people from London’s N postcodes can take part in SHAKESPEARE UPLOADED and win an iPad.

To get involved in SHAKESPEARE UPLOADED, participants must upload a short video of themselves performing a Shakespeare speech or poem. All videos will be available to view online through Mountview’s YouTube channel, and then judged by a panel of professional actors and directors. The winner, decided on 17th July, will receive their own iPad. Videos can be filmed using camera phones and should contain just one performer speaking straight to camera and last no longer than 90 seconds.

Mountview is looking for North London’s young people to breathe new life into Shakespeare. Artistic Director Stephen Jameson says, “There is no right or wrong here, we aren’t looking for a classic polished Shakespeare performance. We want to see your creativity at work and to see you perform Shakespeare in a way that means something to you. Whether your character is a lover, a king, a fool or a warrior, any accent or style will work – just make it yours.”
