Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

The following from the Council:

Applications are now invited for the Making the Difference 2011/12 fund which will consider bids from recognised groups in each area for projects up to a maximum of £5,000.

Applications must be returned by 23 August 2011 ready for shortlisting and formal endorsement by Area Committees at the September round of meetings. The final decisions will be made by the Area Committees by September 26th.

Making The Difference bids should be for projects which improve the quality of the local environment and the lives of local residents, promoting a lasting impact where possible.

There are some restrictions as to who can bid and what can be bid for so please check carefully before making an application.

Here is some basic guidance:

  • Bids must come through recognised or constituted groups Bids that cover the core costs of an existing voluntary sector project will not be considered All projects must be delivered and accounted for within the financial year (ending March 2012)
  • Projects will not be approved if costs can be met from other sources of funding, including Council departments
  • There must be no ongoing revenue implications or maintenance costs from any bid submitted
  • A maximum of £5,000 should be a benchmark with individual Committee discretion in exceptional circumstances
  • Projects that provide value for money and lasting effect (including the ability to find sources of matched funding) will be looked at favourably


The winning bid will be made by Area Committees and is final.

Independent oversight of the process will be by Area Liaison Officers.
