I am transferring some old tapes onto disc for a friend but he doesn't have a power adaptor for his camera.
As the tapes are universal, would anyone mind lending me either an old camera that is in the bottom of a drawer somewhere?
I would be happy to transfer some tapes at the same time if helpful.
Just a thought. Thanks in advance.

I've got some "8" video camera somewhere Paul. I'll check it out later and check that it's Hi-8.
Hi Paul, I've found the camera, but I'm afraid it seems to have given up the ghost.
Thanks Adam - that's great.
I'm in no great rush but am keen to get the project completed (there are quite a few tapes) so let me know when it's convenient for me to pop round to pick it up.
I'm using iMovie on my mac to convert the tapes.
Best,
Paul
Thanks Adam,
Hmmm - I hadn't thought of that. Your camera isn't a digital Hi-8 by any chance is it?
Apparently some cameras convert to digital automatically. Does it have a firewire port?
If this discussion is still live, I find I have a Sony Hi-8 camera. Dont know if it's digital, it a ccd-trv67e if you want to look it up. Cant see a FW socket. Manuals are here.
It looks as though it takes those red+yellow cables that would plug it into an analogue TV etc. A bit before my time. You may need an A>D converter? Maplin territory?
I'm sure I saw an analogue to digital converter in Maplin the other day. About £20 ?
