There is a really good haberdashers in Market Hall in Shopping city....

The Twitter consensus seems to be to pop up to the haberdashery stall in the Market Place in the Mall Wood Green to get all your mending needs sorted

I'm not aware of anywhere in Harringay that does decent sewing supplies but you can get cheap stuff in Sainsburys or the poundish shops.

Nearby, Wood Green market does good stuff, as does Lenarow on Blackstock Road, or Selby's on Holloway Rd.

If you need some urgently I can give you some this evening.
Ta Guys, good to know there's a few options, my wife used to go up by Stamford Hill opposite Safeway, that was handy on Sundays, I wonder if it's still there?

There's a great little stall at the back of the market that's at the back of the Shopping City centre (I'm sure the market has a name -but I don't know it). Pass between Primark and New Look, carry on to the left and you will see it opposite a watch stall. It's an Aladdin's cave of threads, ribbon, buttons, cloth and things you wouldn't even know existed. The staff are very helpful.  En route, you should spot a bead stall on the left - they also sell thread and other versatile things (i.e..: not just for jewellery-making) which is worth a look.

Good luck - I hope you get what you need!
