I've just discovered Shamata at 445 (opposite Roseberry Gardens and Antepliler restaurant). It's fantastic! The owner (a woman - what a nice change!) uses organic eggs, in-season fruits and makes her own bakery products - which are to die for!
It makes a fabulous change from the run-of-the-mill Green Lanes fare. Just go and see what I mean! (and no, I'm not associated with them in any way - just a local resident).

Sounds good, will check it out. Be sure to try Blend, just opened further up Green Lanes. Lovely place with a friendly welcome and fine coffee & cake. (plus some rather magnificent photography currently on display: we were very impressed Hugh!)
Thank you Graeme - very kind.
I'm so glad Sara's pointed Shamata out, because although it's been mentioned on here before we've made none of the hoo-ha that's been made about Blend. I guess it's because Blend is more mould-breaking as far as our high street is concerned, but every new place needs a fair go.
Just discovered it too. Lovely place. Very friendly, great food (esp home-made pastries), nice atmosphere. Semi-open area at the back is really worth checking out if the weather is nice. They have free Wi-Fi, so a good place to sit and work. Also great with kids (staff made a big fuss over my daughter).
Prompted by Sara's post, I popped in today and had a chat with boss Ibrahim and his two sisters Melda and Mehtap who are over from the States helping out.
I was amazed at just how much in the store is fresh, organic and homemade - lots of it. I'm going to go back for another visit next week and will report back to you all.
