Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi there,

I know this is a popular subject amongst families - and I am looking for some case studies for a project I'm working on.  I need to find some families trying to buy a new home in the right catchment area for a school.

If this is you, or if you know someone like this, please message me and I will call or email you back with more info.

thanks,

Jo

There is no 'right catchment area' for a school - it varies from year to year.

And what do you mean by a good school?

Dear Angela,

I'm not sure why you would bother to reply to Jo's post if you are going to be so unhelpful and rude.  As we all know Haringey is a very large borough and with a huge amount of schools some better than others,  a fact that exists whether you like it or not.

Ofstead itself has a rating system that awards schools with titles such as "good" and "outstanding", the academy system would not have been introduced if some school has not been in need of a little help.

Before you are so patronising and condescending again about the existence of school catchment areas I've attached Haringey gov's "distance cut off" table for your perusal, although not exactly a catchment area list as such I know full well that my children can't go to our best primary around Belmont as they're "cut off distance" is under 0.3 of a mile, therefore if I wanted them to go there we'd have to move!

Haringey online is meant to be a helpful place not one for rude people to try to make others feel uncomfortable.  Jo is carrying out a study not declaring that she's moving from West Green to Highgate to get her children in to a better school.

Hi all -

I agree with Emma - although its not guaranteed there is a precedent from years past on approximate distance you will need to live from the school in order to get into it.  Obviously this can change pending other factors like increase in births in a certain year etc, but it is a good guide.

We are just in the process of trying to buy a house and the timing of this is, in part, to ensure we can get into the school we want for my daughter who will start in Sept 16.  Jo if you want to speak about this process please feel free to message me.

Cheers,
Gabby
