Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hello all,

I live locally - off West Green Road, and work for a Big Lottery Funded project, somewhereto_.

There's a pretty exciting project we're working on to open up shop spaces for young artists and I'd love to get it going in Harringay.

It's called somewhereto_Framed and is taking place across London from 2nd - 16th March, and if all goes to plan (we're taking it to Bristol & Newcastle too), it'll become one of the largest public art exhibitions in the UK.

I'm reaching out for...

Businness owners with shop windows who'd like to get involved, it needs very little input from your end.

Young artists looking to display their work

I’ve uploaded our event flyer and there's more info at www.somewhereto.com/framed. Let me know here if you'd like to get involved, it's going to be good!

We need you on west green road! New development on the corner with Langham Road. They'd deffo be community support & I can get you landlord contacts. Please message me directly!

Hi Abi, that would be great, thank you - will message you my contact details.

Sounds a brilliant project. The 6th form students in local secondaries may have students with work good enough to be exhibited, so you might like to pass it on to Heads of Art at Park View, Heartlands, Hornsey School for Girls, Greig city academy etc. I know the Gloucester rd in Bristol has tons of this kind of gallery space in empty shops going on and it really keeps the high st vibrant, ever changing and creative. Good luck!

Good tip for Bristol, thank you. And will be getting in touch with local schools, hopefully we can keep the project going for a while if it all goes well.

Sounds like a brilliant initiative. I know a a few young architects and photographers that might be interested in this.

Robert, hello. Would be great to connect with you on this, what's the best way of getting in touch with the young photographers & architects?

Edited: I just read the small print, age limit is sadly 25 so I'm too old :-/

this is an excellent idea   have you also thought of approaching estate agents about empty shop properties? - not usually productive but some will react to inducements like good publicity and you don't need keys or constant access     I've tried to find prominent (temporary) homes for exhibitions associated with local fairs, festivals etc here and in Islington and Camden over the years and the results are rewarding

I saw something like this this done in a shop near Marchmont Street in Kings Cross a few years ago when it was between occupiers and it was fantastic. Best of luck with it.

Looks great! This is something we may be interested in. Can you email details to shop@harringaylocalstore.co.uk ?
