Thank you Liz. Do you know which of these options don't involve local councillors?

I made the mistake of attending the 'service' at the West Green War Memorial a year or two again. It was presided over by one of the local councillors who clearly knew nothing about the occasion nor what was being remembered. She was dressed like a slob, had no sense of the occassion and rambled on about unrelated elements of local history. It was disgraceful. Not one mention was made of the men and women who have given their lives, bodies and minds up for King and country.

No, sorry, I don't. The information is from the Ham and High. I expect the local councillor from each ward will go to the local service. The Harringay unveiling is at the church and probably not presided over by the council so probably your best bet Gordon.

Thank you Liz.

Don't be put off by anything this year. Show them we're not afraid.

Not afraid Cem. Irritated and saddened but not afraid!

Hi Gordon. I am very saddened by this account. Whatever our personal views about 'War', this is not the time to enter into a philosophical public position but remain respectful to those, including everyone on either side, who died. I will remember all, but in particular I will especially remember my country men and women from Ireland during World War 1 who were conscripted, like our fellow men and women across Britain, and fought many did not come home. My point being (sorry wandered a bit) is that you become informed and aware if you are representing our borough and dress appropriately and plan a reasonably short address citing how local communities at key major conflicts stood together in these very sad major wars and conflicts. Basic manners tbh.

Kind regards and in shared memories,

Gerard

St Philips (Philip Lane) according to their website appear to be doing traditional service at West Green Common memorial on Sunday - they are leaving St Philips at 10.30 so presume will be at common by 11. Photos last year show bugler and formality- hope that helps ,Gordon
