A call by 40 MPs to get Labour back to it's core support. A welcome move in the right direction:
Labour MPs back to core support
Don't see David Lammy's name on the list!
@ John M Jon is a member of the site although a glance at his page shows he has not yet got round to making his political declaration on it. Perhaps some of the party members involved in this thread could give him a nudge?
Yes, Jon(athan) V has been remarkably invisible and silent on all the great topics that keep the rest of us awake here. If there are no finicky electoral rules against whole families representing a single ward, this could be the beginning of the Great Harringay Dynasty.
B2, that sounds like a Labour Party worth voting for.
If any Members of the Council are Freemasons they are now required under law to declare such membership in the List of Members' Interests.
Sheik didn't declare his membership of a freemasonry order either. As it happens.
Who IS a Mason on Haringey Council? Spill, baby!
Freemasons, at last we're on a serious subject. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1bHBthJN9w
Defections, moles, secret associations ... goodness me, are our local politicians/councillors infected by illusions of drama (the Smiley season).
It's more frownie than Smiley, Matt. But you're probably right. There's an element of drama involved for someone doing the pretty humdrum and thankless job of local councillor. And who has jettisoned their principles and beliefs - or perhaps never had any.

And yes, "defection" sounds more exciting than "transfer fee". Just as "mole' is more mysterious than "duplicitous shit". A meeting with Nick Clegg or Eric Pickles is not everyone's idea of a good night out. But at least for a week they get to the front page of the local advertising free sheets. Which pretend that some "senior" figure of boundless talents and vital importance has shaken the political landscape. And quote them about their "vision" and "independent thinking". As if anyone's ever heard anything of the kind from them.
I'm enjoying the action Alan. Makes up for all the parties looking pretty much the same on policy. Mine you Clegg has done one of those political u-turns on Trident this week. Right so that's £20 billion saved!
